Lección 6- Application in space deisgn

The TREND RESEARCH tool provides an original and deeply human lens for designing spaces: it does not start from function, but from lived experience. The selected cards, the combinations made, and the narratives that emerge during the activity reveal far more than mere aesthetic preferences: they speak of culture, memories, belonging, social needs, and deep desires. 

Through this tool, it is possible to: 

  • Identify personal housing trends – recognizing styles, objects, atmospheres, and spatial configurations that reflect how the learner imagines and wishes to inhabit a space; 
  • Capture cultural and relational codes – connected to one’s ideas of care, intimacy, sharing, spirituality, or belonging; 
  • Activate conscious design – based on symbolic, emotional, and functional elements that are truly meaningful for those who will inhabit the space. 

The map that emerges from the selection and storytelling can concretely guide the design phase, orienting: 

  • The choice of furnishings according to needs for privacy, social interaction, or flexibility; 
  • The definition of materials and colors consistent with the evoked images and atmospheres; 
  • The configuration of multifunctional environments that respond to evolving visions of living. 

TREND RESEARCH thus enables a transition from representation to design, activating a creative shift that transforms identity reflection into a tangible custom-shaped space, where every choice is deeply connected to the experiences and future of its inhabitants.
